Sports and Rehabilitation Expertise
Helene qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1996 with BSc First Class Honours degree from Glasgow Caledonian University.
She gained extensive orthopaedic and outpatient experience as a Senior Physiotherapist with the NHS and the private sector and in the UK and Australia working with national and international sports teams. This has included Olympic and Paralympic teams.
She has specialised with Masters Studies from the University of Bradford in The Lower Limb and Therapeutic Rehabilitation.
She is a qualified Pilates instructor (APPI).
Helene is the team lead for the Paediatric Musculoskeletal service at Harrogate District Hospital where she works closely with Orthopaedic and Rheumatology teams, frequently liaising with Specialists from outside the area and in the Private sector.
Helene has Enhanced CRB clearance and Child Protection Trained Level 3 (North Yorkshire). She is also a member of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists, and MSK special interest group.
Helene is an accomplished sportswoman running for Great Britain on the road (100km) and Mountain Running teams.
Her love for extreme mountain endurance events has taken her to Cameroon, The Sahara, Malaysia, Morocco, Tibet, California, New Zealand and the European Alps.
She was previously the World Record Holder for Everest Base Camp to Kathmandu run and was overall winner of the 220 mile Dragons’ Back Race in 1992.
